First time buyer - little bit scared!!!

Me and the other half have had an offer accepted for our first house and are not sure how to proceed now.

Basically we have looked at mortgages but not made a formal application and the estate agent wants us to give them details of our lawyers so they can get underway.

Do we go and get all the legal stuff underway or should we make the final mortgage application first? :confused:

I think the seller wants to move quickly but if get the conveyancer going before the mortgage is 100% approved is this likely to cause a problem?

Any advice / help would be greatly appreciated.

    Personally I would ensure that the purchase is affordable and that the mortgage is possible before instructing solicitors. As soon as you instruct your solicitor the meter will be running with reference their fees.

    There is, however, no problem with giving the solicitor details to the estate agent as the solicitor will not begin charging you until they recieve your formal instruction (or they shouldnt anyway)
