Xbox360 - Amazon.co.uk vs Comet.

Hello all,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
Has anyone bought a Xbox360 from Amazon .co.uk, developed faults and had to return it? Was Amazon easy to deal with for returns/repair?
I was thinking Comet would be easy, since if there was a fault, you could walk into the store and return - however, I have read lots of horror stories online.
I have never bought a big electrical item from amazon before - but can't find many horror stories regarding returns.
In either case, I would take out the 3 year £30 extended warranty/insurance just to be safe.
Any advice on which store to go for for ease of mind would be gratefully received.
Thank you.

Amazon are fine.
I've had an Xbox 360 since release. I've had to return one to Amazon - they collected the old one when they dropped the new one off, the day after I reported the problem.
I've had no problems with the replacement but I'd have no concerns about contacting them if something did go wrong.0 -
If anything were to go wrong surely it would happen within the first year, the new 360's are meant to be less prone to failing or so ive heard. Why have you chosen comet and amazon ? If i had a choice id use amazon purely for the fact they may be easier to deal with.
Ive bought 2 360's form gamestation and when faults developed i returned it and got a replacement simple as and amazon would be the same i would have thought.0 -
I Chose Amazon and Comet for these reasons:
- I have a Comet store close by, so can return easily if necessary.
- With Amazon, their price is excellent, but was unsure regarding peace of mind if a fault developed. Elle7's comment reassures me.
- Have ruled out other retailers such as Argos, etc - due to no stock for the model I am looking at - I want my xbox this week :-) - sorry a very poor reason I know.

Thanks all - going to go with Amazon.0

you must obviously be a n00b!!!!!0 -
Don't even bother with the shop, just contact MS directly. That's all the retailers do... you send it to them, they ring MS, fet a returns code, return it to ms, who then return it to the retailer who then sends it to you.
All you're doing by returning it to the retailer is lengthening the time it takes to get it sorted.0 -
Regardless of which retailer I sent my Xbox to Microsoft direct in Germany.
They gave me a DPD reference number and instructions and I arranged with DPD online to collect at a time that suited me (a actual day and a block of hours) took a day or two to get to Germany, and it was back in my hands. Total time without xBox was 1 week, and they gave me a 1 month free Gold card (which I do believe is for your hassle and time without a xbox and is standard)
Good Customer service and excellent handling of the repair.0 -
Amazon are SO super easy to return items. Get it from them, do NOT get it from Comet.0

Unless it fails within the first month or so (very unlikely), if you return it to either retailer they will simply box it up and ship it off to Microsoft - so the repair time would be the same.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
