How detailed was your budget?

Wish i'd seen that budget list earlier!!
We started with a £3000 budget
It changed to £5000 about halfway through with the hidden costs
2 weeks to go, and it has actually cost us £8000, the last £2k being due this month
I was VERY naive with the first budget, and missed lots of essentials off the second budget (such as dress alterations and a honeymoon!)...
to be honest, i'll be glad when it's over and we can think about paying off the bloody overdraft!!
Our budget was STRICTLY £3000 so we opened a gift list with thomas cook. Our guests loved the fact they could contribute to our honeymoon instead of buying u s a toaster lol.0 -
To be honest, we didn't make a stric budget.
We spoke to our parents on both sides who helped out on the venue & food.
Then we just roughly totted various things up to make sure we knew the sort of costs involved.
Stuff like petrol, meals etc didn't come into our budget really as they are more "every day" costs.0 -

No figures on it yet, mind; we've just got the total estimate which we're hoping to reduce by a few hundred quid
Actually, could you (or anyone else) do me a small favour and tell me if I've missed anything off Honeymoon costs? I've got the passport name change fee on the main budget already.
Travel to airport
Airport accommodation
Flights (total return cost)
Transfers (return)
Hotel
Travel
Food and Drink
Entertainment
Souvenirs/Gifts
Thank you!

To be really thorough, you could also think about:
Parking costs at airport (if applicable)
Visa applications
Plug adapters / luggage or accessories / tags etc
Sun cream, bug spray, medicines etc
Any other stuff you'll buy for the journey - books, magazines etc
New clothes
Any extra gadgets you'll buy, especially cameras, memory cards etc
Tips (some places you have to tip maids, bellhops etc)
Cost of withdrawing cash / paying on card etc overseas
And then any costs when you get back - journey home, restocking the fridge (was rather more than a regular shop for us), travel to catch up with people etc.
Also honeymoon album / prints0 -

Bus or train to airport, so that's fine
Hopefully won't need to pay for a visa; we're looking at the Med, and no countries we were considering charge UK nationals for visas
Sun screen etc added
Will take books we already own (the ones that have been glaring accusingly at us from the bookcase for having bought but not read them yet)
Extra memory card will be useful - added
Tip money added
Will try to take enough money to not need to withdraw while there, but contingency will be useful!
Cost of printing photos, & materials to make scrapbook-type album added.

Hi
Just sorting out my budget and wondered how much you have set or spent on copies of your birth certificates? Is this something wr can do ourselves or do we pay someone? Also how much to change my name on my passport? I have no idea how to do this before the honeymoon

To change your name on the passport it has to be a whole new passport, so regular fee. Think it's around £70.:T0

Hello, My name is MrsDrink I am a sad geek. :rotfl:
I have a multi-page spread sheet - one page is an over view split into categories (e.g. stationery), another page has a list of expenses. EVERYTHING that I have spent as a direct result of agreeing to get married gets written down. For example I recorded the craft knife and blades I bought to make our invites. The only things I haven't recorded is things that I would have spent anyway (e.g. I won't record my make up or getting my hair dyed because I'd have bought my make up anyway, and I get my hair dyed at the end of every term anyway). I haven't recorded petrol or car parking because other than getting my dress there hasn't been any trip I've made that has been solely wedding related. If I've popped to town to collect something I've waited till I was going there anyway.
So far I have spent £1135.87, with a preposed £2076.13 left to spend.0
