How to pause and resume recording on a V+ (Virgin) box ?

I recently got a V+ box from Virgin, to record some series we like. It works fine but there is no manual, the techie who installed did not have one. I have downloaded a manual but it is not identical to my box. I am struggling to find out if I can pause and resume during recording - while the ads are running for example.

Can anyone help?

yes you can do that, i do it all the time, you can also pause live tv as well recorded. To pause it you press the button near the top of the remote with a triangle(represents play) pointing to 1 side and the 2 vertical thick black lines which represents pause. You can also rewind and fast forward live and recorded tv by using the 2 buttons either side of the Play/pause button.

My zapper has a slightly different layout to the one depicted.
There is nothing actually marked Play or Pause
Going down the zapper from the top, row by row are

Mute, Onoff
Guide, Fav and Help
Then red green yellow and blue buttons
TV, Home and V+
Then a set of circular buttons around a central OK button including volume change on left and channel change on right
Then <<, >|| and >> buttons
Then |,<, R, "square" and >>|| buttons
Then keypad.

For instant record I press the R button. For pause I assume you are referring to the >|| button?

Yes on my remote the pause/play is the >> and 2 vertical lines.

Sorry didnt know there was a completely different remote, well id try the button or buttons with >> and the 2 vertical lines.

Red square = Record

|| = Pause

|> = Play (same button as Pause)

>> = fast forward

<< = Rewind

Err I don't have a || symbol by itself on my zapper, nor a |>.

I merely asked which of these I had to press to pause and resume while recording, as I do not have a user guide.

It wasn't by itself both pause and play are the same button.:D

usignuolom, you say you want to "pause and resume during recording"

Do you mean: pause it during the adverts, so they won't be recorded, like you used to do on a video recorder? Because that is not possible.
