Help pls-cant log on

Hi guys
hope somebody will take the time to help us.
My son baught a desktop about a week ago, set it up, connected to net then proceeded to download TONS of songs from Limewire.
Now, cant log on. just showing the blue screen with welcome. he can enter his password but then .....nothing.
I am assuming he has allowed some virus in but have no clue where to start.
Please can one of u techie people help?

    First off try to log on in safe mode.

    Restart the machine and hit F8 until the machine boots up in safe mode.

    Do you have anti-virus sorftware?
    If so run that, and any anti-spy stuff.

    Then remove limewire!

    In an off itself - no.

    But if you use P2P software you run the risk of getting viruses, spyware etc

    If you do use limewire which is incedently virus and adware and spyware free anything you download should be immediately virus scanned, usually by right clicking the file and then scan with AV.

    Suggest avoiding P2P software like the plague. But if he must, insist no software programs are downloaded EVER!
