Help - why am I seeing 'old' web pages unless I refresh page?

I received so much help yesterday in my question about burning to CDs (or not) that I am hoping to get some help with this new problem.
I did a lot of fiddling around with my computer yesterday trying to get something to work and am worried that I may have messed something up.
When I click on a web page - such as in the chat forum here, it brings up the version of the page that I last viewed rather than as it is now. I have to click refresh to bring up the latest version.
For example: I clicked on the 'Quick Grab it...' forum at 9.10am and it brought up the page that I last viewed at 4.30 pm yesterday. This is annoying and frustrating - particularly as my work involves picking up news items from Reuters etc. where it it critical to be up to date.
Any ideas what has gone wrong and what I can do to resolve it?
