A call here a few days ago, to call back 0871 ...

Apparently it is one of those companies that offers to help people reclaim bank charges, which might not be all that popular with a certain Mr Lewis, who has criticised similar companies on here

Nobody in this house asked for such information and the number is ex-directory, which means I'm assuming it was random-dialled.

In my opinion the calls are obviously sales-motivated, and are also exploiting people who will not know that the 0871 number will cost them 10 pence a minute, and if the various regulatory authorities say that these calls are not covered at present, then this seems a cynical out-manoeuvre of inadequate rules

i got through to there call centre. it a national information message apparently about bank charges, what a joke!!! when the girl sounded a bit confused about who she actually worked for i thought id apply for there free information pack (false name ofcourse;) )and see who these con artists really are!! We will see. Or maybe i'll get bombarded with calls and letters??? :o didnt realise they made money on the calls thank god only 10p a minute! are these bank charge people monitored by the bank ombudsman? can they help if ICTSIC cant stop them? Is this legal? how can i report them? cant find anything on MCS though???

Welcome to the MSE forums G_Underwood.

    Only 10p a minute?

I think we can help you save a considerable amount of money on your phone bills if you think 10p/minute qualifies for the adverb 'only'.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

HaHa, I might have a look then!!! When I say 10p it's coz i've heard of phone bills in the hundreds from these sort of calls. I did panic me a bit!

i got my free information pack and suprise it isnt just free info it was a company called CPN, I have the letter and stuff, its a registered company. it says the website is https://www.cpnetwork.co.uk but doesnt seem to exist?

What can I do about this? how can i get the letter on the forum without typing it out :)
