Item not as described

I read a few posts on similar situations, but haven't really got my answer!

I bought a dress from a seller which has beading detail, the seller described it as only worn once and put no faults. When I received the dress I was expecting a couple of beads to be missing, but there was a significant amount missing.
I contacted the seller who said they would refund, once I'd posted it back, but minus postage costs. I replied said it was pointless because it was bought for £9.50, but the postage cost to me was £4, and to return it would be similar for me, so In effect I would only receive £1.50. I haven't had a reply yet but just wondered if I was to open a case would I get a different outcome? ie. get at least the 9.50 + 4.00 originally spent back?

  • They should refund the whole whack - it's not your fault that they sent a faulty item, it's the sellers responsibility, so why should you take a hit on the postage.

Message them back saying that you think it's unfair you have to pay for postage for an item that didn't arrive in the condition described.
  • Say what you like, they wont give you it back and this is a problem with Ebay and badly described items.
  • Of they still say that you have to pay return postage after the message then take it to a PayPal SNAD dispute, and send it back with https://www.collectplus.co.uk or https://www.hermes-europe.co.uk as they are fully tracked so will be ok if you do have to take it to dispute and may actually be cheaper than the original postage

If you have to open a dipute then you will get your original p&p back, they would have to refund you the £13.50 originally paid. You will need to post it back tracked & as above collectplus would probably be the cheapest way of doing it.
You can then obviously leave appropriate feedback.
  • Thanks for the replies, I have heard back twice since from the seller who refuses to refund the postage only the £9.50, as says that I wouldn't be £8 down (from posting to me and back). So I selected to resolve a problem, but I just got to a trouble shoot sort of questionnaire and at the end told me to resolve in the new resolution centre, but I cant figure out how to do that!?
  • Sorry I have just found how to!
