Check Your EDF bill

I think I posted this in the wrong section ( warnings ) :o

So here goes again :D

Just received my latest on line bill from EDF a quick glance through and I noticed that in the ' Account activity since last statement ' , there is an item ' Miscellaneous charge of £20.85 ' .

No date of when this charge arose or what it was for.

After being on the 'phone to EDF customer services for forty five minuets  they " think it was something to do with the system changeover in Feb/March " and rather than a charge it should be a credit !

Believe it or not the customer advisers are unable to access the old system to find out what the charge was for and have to contact the IT team to try to resolve the matter, they said it will take a week, we'll see :shhh:

Initially they waffled on, trying to get rid of me, by saying that it was a charge for a cancelled visit.

They couldn't say when the alleged visit was, or what it was for, but suggested that it may have been for a meter reading, when I said I did the meter reading on line there was a deadly hush :D

Anyone else noticed similar ?

If you are with EDF keep your eye out for this nice little earner for them.

I'll update in a week.

P.s. I'm about to move to a different supplier anyway but have no intentions of leaving any of my money in their bank ;)

  • Have a look at this post #3. Follow the link and read up on the Electricity (Standards of Performance) Regs, 2005.

You have queried a bill and if it is to do with your electricity supply your supplier, EDF, are obliged to provide a satisfacrory response within 5 working days. Failure to do so and they are required to pay you £20.00.

There are certain conditions that have to be met, e.g. you need to be in a particular area of EDF supply network. This is explained in the Watchdog Article (the first link in my post).

If you qualify for a claim then put the dispute of the bill into an email now if you haven't already. It will set the clock ticking for them, whether or not you go through with a claim.

Could be a nice little earner for you.;)

Thanks DD,:T though an EDF customer, it appears I'm not in one of the areas that it applies.

However, seeing as communication has only been by 'phone today, I'll be rattling off an email and snail mail later.

Depending on their replies and length of time it takes them to sort it out, there will be suggestions from me for some form of compensation for my time and trouble. ;)

    ;)

Well praise where praise is due.

Just checked my account online and I have been credited with the ' miscellaneous ' amount. :D

So thanks to the young lady who took my call.

I took her name and will be rattling off an email to convey my thanks and appreciation, I hope EDF's systems are able to credit and inform her of commendations.

I'm on the front line to make the proverbial hit the fan when things go wrong.

I'm also humble enough to thank those who sort things out. :)
