I think your options are limited to one or more potential sources of funds:

    - gambling

    - armed robbery

    - drug dealing

    - prostitution

    All the best!

The OP has stated that she needs the money by a specific date the 10th December. I can only assume that she paid down a deposit in July, re her holiday post. And in order not to lose this money she now needs the £3k! Not sure why she did not follow the advice about putting money by, but as other have said, because she has no job, then obviously no loan. Also the bit that puzzled me was about the long wait in starting a possible new job and in December too why the long wait! Looks like ebaying might the answer to her problem, but her house/room will be looking very bare when she gets back!!

Most lenders tend to want the money they lend back. This means they need borrowers to be honest, credible have a source of income (whether it be from employment, investments, or a lump sum due), and be able to afford the loan.

If the income is from employment then a lender will want to make sure that it is stable as far as they can tell, which means being in the job for a min of 6 months.

Other factors such as previous good credit history, owning assets (home, other savings/investments) all add weight to the decision whether to lend or not.

So @ the OP, you can see why you will properly not be successful in obtaining a loan at this time, as you do not have stable employment.

(sidenote: some banks tended to ignore these sound principles a few years back, hence the financial problems we have now both we people being unable to repay their loans, and countries LOL)
  • Holi.....sorry Payday Loans.

I also know a big fella called Bert that will lend you a few quid.

Seriously ms sunshine, the answer is no financial institution will lend without "some" form of collateral, whether that is a house, a car or more usually a job. If you have a car or a house you could borrow against these perhaps?

(and I think most posters have an idea what the money is for, no point getting upset with each other if they are cynical in the face of obvious evidence!)

    either way enjoy NY! :-)

Why does everyone think that this is for a holiday?
If it was, what difference does that make anyway? It's clear none of you get out much. If you did you would know that it doesn't cost £3000 for a city break and that you need to need to pay the balance for a holiday about 2 months before you go :|

  • Hi,
I need to get £3000 by 10th of December. Currently unemployed, though I should be starting a job in about 6 weeks. Is there anywhere I could get a loan for this?
    No no and thrice no.

Yeah, sorry, my bad trying to be Sherlock holmes.

ok then, go to the bank, ask them for the loan and when they ask you what it is for then give them the same answer you are giving us and tell them it is none of their business. I am sure the clerk will nod appreciatively, respect your privacy and just sign it off there and then.

Meanwhile, back in reality for a moment, they will ask because there are certain things you cannot borrow money for.

Hence the reason we are trying to help by finding out what you need it for. Unfortunately if the reason you need it for falls into this "things you cannot borrow money for" bracket. Then the answer will always be no so there is no point applying and damaging your credit rating.

We are trying to help (Albeit with humour) but you aren;t always going to get the answer you wish to hear i am afraid. Life's a bit crap like that sometimes.:(

So, now we've cleared that up, are you going to tell us what the loan is for? Or will it blow your cover with M15 and destroy a multi million pound drugs bust operation?;)

Matters not a cold dead rat's asss what it's for, it's not going to happen unless you borrow from highly dubious sources like Hatchet Harry or Nick the Greek :rotfl:

    You're dreaming I'm afriad.
