As chalkie99 has said in Post 17, a baker will need product liability insurance. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

BTW does anyone else think the "baking cakes at home" market may be reaching saturation point. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

If you were going to supply my business with your cakes & I came to see your product before stocking it in my farm shop I would never never ever even consider it if I saw animals or pets of any sort on the same premises.

A common place for animals......
A farm shop isn't a farm. A seperate building, or not even on a farm, just selling farm produce. My nearest farm shop is attached to a garden centre and there's not an animal in sight. The one near my work address is on a farm but the opposite side and a completely seperate building.0 -
regardless their is NO shop is going to buy any products especially food from anyone walking through their doors and saying i have baked some cakes do you want to buy them.
you will ned to go through a process to be regsitered as an authorised supplier for them, such a s seeing your certificates to show your cooking/prep area has passed health checks and then your public and product liability insurance as as said before if little johnny chokes on one of your cakes, the first think is the shop will be investigated and what would happen if they say oh this person come in off the street and sold us some cakes. they would be closed down for a full health check, but if they say oh we got the cakes from joes cakes, then all you stock with that shop will be removed for checks and then you will be checked out and it would be your insurance that will have to pay any compensation etc.0 -
I use my car for my business - I declare it on my insurance. Some companies won't quote but others don't charge extra. Easy bit to fix that could have huge consequenses.0
