Help me please you lovely people,
I had a current account with Santander,

Witch I closed because of the crap customer service and opened a current account with Lloyds TSB as I have my mortgage account with them anyway,

Today is payday and I did not get paid because my work place paid me into my colsed Santander current account, Even tho I sent a change of bank details,

I am so angry as I have no money no food no petrol, I have only £21.38 in my pocket, I have no credit cards no overdraft,

I called Santander they keep on saying the money will bonce back to my work place but they did not look at my account as they said its closed also they did not ask for my account number or sort code to have a look if they still have the money,

I called my work place they said as soon as we get the money back we will pay you into your new account the same day. How long would this take???

My mortgage is due on the 1ST Nov but i called Lloyds TSB they said dont worry as long as you pay by the 12th Nov you will be ok no charges (Thanks Lloyds TSB)

Will I ever get my money back??? or can they keep it and lie to me saying we did not get it, Im so so scared because what if Santander lie to me Please Help? Have i worked for free for a month??? I cant stop thinking about this and its doing my head in. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME PEOPLE AS ITS £1424.65

    ooo

please could you change the font...and maybe split into paragraphs?

Any chance of a loan from your employer to tide you over?

(I'll come back and re read in a minute)

I would contact Santander again and ask them how long the money will take to 'bounce back', they must have a time frame for this type of transaction.

When your employer receives the money they will probably pay you by CHAPS, same day payment.

When I had a problem with too much money being taken from my a/c the bank retrieved it in 4 days and were able to tell me it would take between 3 - 5 working days. As it was my banks error (Lloyds) they offered to give me an interest free overdraft so perhaps your bank might help in this capacity if it looks like it might take a while for the money to come back.

    Hello Sandra :)

Please don't panic about this. I was in your shoes approximately 10 months ago, when my employer had paid my salary into a Natwest account that had recently been closed. As they were one of my creditors I was petrified that they would just take my money and that would be the last I would see of it. On my pay day I was on the phone to Natwest begging them to allow me to withdraw the cash so I could pay my bills.

Fortunately it never came to this - I received a call from my Payroll department the very next day saying the payment had been sent back to them by Natwest, and they would arrange a CHAPS transfer to my new account as soon as possible.

I am sure it will be a similar situation for you - please speak to your HR department/payroll, and they will be able to tell you whether Santander have 'accepted' the payment or not.

Hope it goes well for you :)

1 - the money WILL bounce back to work assuming the Santander account had a £0 balance (which it probably did if closed).

2- I have no clue how long it will take but it will take a few days.

3 - No they can't keep your money - and why would they lie? It's unlikely they would have credited your closed account (because it's closed) so the money will be in a 'suspense' account and when it CANNOT be credited it will return to the originator of the payment (hence the term 'bounce back') so that's why they didn't even look at 'your' account. The money won't actually get 'in' that account.

4 - I suggest that you go BACK to your wages dept and ask them, since they failed to ensure payment to the correct account to either pay you again (they should know full well the money will bounce back to them) or failing that offer you a loan to tide you over.

Yes you're cross (understandably) and yes it's a lot of money but no you haven't worked 'for free' but the calmer and more polite you are when you are dealing with your banks and wages dept the more they will try to help.

And thank you for addressing the issues - the original block and font made it very difficult to read your original post.

Yes I know (I did ask nicely;))

Can the wages dept not chase the Area Manager? It was their error!

Brilliant about the loan of £100!
