Annoying watchers

Isn't it annoying when you get 9 watchers on an item and the auction ends without a sale ? It's not like it's a rare or highly collectible item or anything. Ruddy annoying making you think you will have bidders. Shame you can't get your own back on them.

  • Its probable that they are watching several of the same type of thing, what you need to ask yourself is ' why are they deciding not to bid on yours?'

There is nothing wrong with a genuine Pandora bead I can think of.

For what? Watching and not buying. I could see your point if they were non paying bidders but come on, you "bid to buy" not "watch to bid"

I wasn't suggesting that there was anything wrong with the item.

I was suggesting that, instead of 'blaming' the watchers you should review how you are listing the item and see if there is a way you can make your listing more preferred by the prospective purchasers.

Sometimes I watch items if I have something similar to sell, to see what they go for.

What makes you think that 'watchers' are definitely going to be bidders ?

Are you suggesting that I must only 'watch' if I am going to bid ?

Frequently I mark items as watch to allow me to decide if I actually want the item - going back several times gives me the option to have a leisurely consideration of it and whether it will fit my particular needs

As for Shame you can't get your own back on them. - good thing you don't run a physical shop - I can see you slating off people for just looking in the window a number of times and then walking away :rotfl:

There was a post on here a few week ago, in the listing was something similar to "Don't Watch If You Don't Intend To Bid". Goes without saying he got nearly 500 watchers. It didn't sell.

Good job you haven't got any say in the running of Ebay.

I watch lots of similar items at the same time, prior to selling such an item. Lets me see what prices are achieved and what adverts and selling techniques work for that particular item.

Not really sure why you'd want to get your own back on me. You're more than welcome to watch the items I'm selling and not bid.

I've got loads on my watch list that I have no intention of bidding on, several from reports on here where people have pointed out a dodgy seller or a strange item. I also watch items that I can source to see whether they sell and decide whether I should go into competition

I also watch things that I have reported for being in breach- to monitor if ebay ever pull any listings.

OP I know what you mean, shame when you get your hopes up that you'll get a sale.
(and I took your post in the light hearted tone I think you meant it to be ;) )
