Lenovo Extended Warranty

Hello, I've posted this to a separate area of the forums however I feel that this area may be slightly more appropriate.

Approximately a year ago I purchased a Lenovo Idepad although overall I've had a good experience I've recieved some problems. Firstly, the mouse buttons failed to work after a few months, which then made me send the laptop to Lenovo for repair. Then I had an issue with certain keys on the keyboard this was recitfied as well however I noticed that the mouse issue returned (possibly happened during repair after lifting the case?) which I'm returning the laptop now again for.

My warranty is running out extremely soon as such I'm being offered a range of extended warranties, I'm personally not interested in accidental damage cover as the laptop is rather stationary and I am extremely careful with my electronics. However I'm consured that the keyboard and more likely the mouse issues will return again.

Here are the warranty options I've been offered:
The Extended Warranty programs we have available, are as follows:

A. One additional year of our Standard Limited Warranty ( the one you currently have) is 35.67euros or about 31 pounds.
B. One additional year of our Standard Limited Warranty + the Accidental Damage Protection( it covers ALL kinds of damages; ie; broken screen, spillages, damaged keyboard..etc); price is 72.57euros or 63pounds.
C. Two additional years of our Standard Limited Warranty ( 2 more yrs on top of the 1 year you currently have) is about 75 pounds or 86.10euros.
D. Two additional years of our Standard Limited Warranty + the Accidental Damage Protection, is 146.37euros or about 127 pounds.
I've considered the one year additional standard warranty however I'm wondering if it's worth it especially with the horror stories I've heard of people being accused of accidental damage when it was in fact from bad manufacturing. Also I'm wondering if it's possible to get insurance for these items for a lower price somewhere else?

    A or C look good, I would go for A - assuming this deal is really with Lenovo and not some dodgy 3rd party company.
    I had to make use for a Lenovo warranty once, to obtain a full set of Windows installation disks for free. You have to be firm with Lenovo but in my case they did cough up a good warranty service.

    Once your machine gets older, spare parts should be easy to obtain and reasonably priced e.g. via Ebay.

    Luckily I seem to have posted this in the consumer rights section of the forum and from what I've heard it may be possible for me to get a years free extended warranty due to the fact that it has not only been returned three times but also that as I first returned it within six months the retailer would have to prove it wasn't a manufacturing issue with the computer itself.

    What puzzles me is what you said about the mouse.

    If mouse buttons fail on one of my computers, I instantly swap of for another (usb plug in) mouse to check if it is the mouse, or another part of the system that is responsible.

    If it is only the mouse that failed, I would never send the whole machine back.
    In my experience, Lenovos are battleship-durable.

    The OP is talking about a laptop therefore I assume by mouse he/she is referring to the trackpad and buttons, in which case the whole machine would need to go back for service.

    I would say you are onto something there. If a fault occurs within the first 6 months it is deamed to be inherent and the onus is on the manufacturer to prove that it was you who caused the damage. As they have accepted the mouse button problem to be a manufacturing issue, I don't think it would be unreasonable for you to expect them to continue rectifying it (even when the warranty has expired) for a reasonable amount of time after purchase (or until they have fixed it completely). You may have to battle with them to agree to this though.

    Yes, sorry for any confusion I'm referring to the trackpad and buttons. The trackpad has been perfectly fine, however the buttons seem to slowly deteriorate to the point where they no longer pop back up and as such I'm unable to operate them.

    I have a feeling it would be like that with Lenovo, I probably have a large battle up ahead although hopefully I will be able to get them to provide me with future repairs for the buttons.
