Ebay postage costs

Why is it when i order something from ebay i end up paying double the postage?N.Ireland is classed as the uk and it is the same to post to N.Ireland as it is to post in England and vice versa.
Tried to order an xmas tree @£79.99 with fee postage to uk they emailed to tell me it would be an extra £28 for postage.but was free anywhere in the uk.

It is only the same by Royal Mail, most couriers charge a premium for UK mainland to N. Ireland, the only one I know that doesn't is Parcelforce via Ebay/Paypal. That said the items could be being delivered by the company selling them, so getting to Ireland in a van would be way more costly to them.
It would depend on weight and size as to how much the seller is taking the mick.

I don't use our everyday courier for Northern Ireland, it is actually just under triple the amount of our normal rate.

  • I know the only one I've found that doesn't charge stupid amounts to NI is Hermes, but to be able to send to NI you have to have an account and send over 100k parcels per year or book them through interparcel
