Toys r us are refusing to even look at my sons psp as they say they only have a 28 day refund or exchange policy, but i was not told this by the girl who i spoke to on tuesday morning when i told her it was bought in nov and was i xmas pressie for my son.I was told that to take it in and they would have a look at it for me.So it looks as though I may have to pay for it to be repaired.

Remind them, as they seem to have forgotten, that their T&Cs are in addition to your statutory rights, which clearly state your contract is with the Retailer and they have to resolve issues regarding faulty goods. It can be quicker to deal with the manufacturer directly though but I would start with Toys R Us and ask for a replacement.
Some helpful info here:

Sony were excellent when my brothers broke, we phoned them up and they offered a replacement within about 48 hours, they sent someone to collect the broken one and brought a brand new one with them. Couldn't fault that at all.
Toys R Us should be more compliant though im sure, dont take no for an answer!0 -

You do not need anything saying you are entitled to get it repaired. So long as you have some proof of purchase then they have to assume the fault was there when you bought it and should replace it. If not then go ahead and contact sony, it would be useful if you have registered the guarantee. Toys R Us are talking nonsense. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
