Just had the following bill through and now need a sit down (wasn't expecting any cost like this). Supply and erect quad UHF aerial with wall brackets, mast, bolts, co-axial aerial downlead, distribution amplifier, AER, SAT, R/F inst etc, combiner, fly leads, plugs and 2 x AER soc, supply mains extension. £372!!! Is this reasonable or have I been ripped off?:(

Doubt that includes fitting0 -
Hard to say really, would say normal cost is between £120 - £190 for a standard installation, aerial, bracket, cable 15-20 metre), single point. But your list shows a distribution amp (how many outputs does it have), mains extension (why that is included, no idea), how long was the run of cable.
The £150 from tesco is a basic installation, aerial, fitting, cable and single pointMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
It's an 8 way amp.
Power cable was needed cos' they fitted a mains powered amp instead!
The aerial is fitted on the side of our house and the cabling literally runs 1m or so and through to the attic.
It was a new build house and so all the rooms were cabled up already with all the leads bunched together in that side of the attic.0 -
It's possibly fractionally high, but because you needed a distro amp and power, I can see why it was as expensive as it was.0

So you did not get at least one quote first and preferably three from CAI accredited installers first?0
-
They didn't fit a plug, they literally left me an extension lead which I used to plug the amp in through the hatch!0
-
No, didn't get round to getting different quotes - big lesson learned!0

Forgot the combiner, assume you have satellite as well, to feed the tv & sat down the down the cables.
So say £180 for aerial and installation, plus £40 for the 8 way amp, £5 for combiner.
My opinion would be, yes overpriced.
Out of curiosity, the Quad UHF aerial, is it a big aerial and do you live in a poor signal area (or don't you know).Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
We do live in a poor reception area - the aerial is larger than what we've had in other areas.
Yes we have Sky. It took them aaaages to fit and had to call them back a couple of times cos' it wasn't working properly. But I don't see why I should be paying them extra to put things right?!?
At the very least I am tempted to ask them for a proper breakdown of costs cos' that what I have written in my original post is all the detail I have!0
