Had a call from E-on/AgeUK recently offering me a 'special' deal for the over 60's. When I worked out the cost it was £137 more than I will pay in the coming year. Today I had a call from E-on offering me a new deal called Energy Fit saying that they would (not could) save me money. When I worked out the cost it was £82 more than I will pay with my current supplier.
I think it is disingenuous to target the over 60's with a plan that is clearly not best value. E-on/AgeUK doesn't say that it is the cheapest but in targeting the over 60's there is a suggestion that it is. Some people can work out their costs but there will be others who can't. Following the recent energy summit the Government said that we should shop around and switch but what chance have older consumers got with such dodgy tactics.

My father had a similar experience, he signed over thinking he was getting a cheaper tariff, I was horrified to find the door to door salesman had put him on the AgeUK plan. Isn't it just standard tariff with a £10 cold weather payment?
Got him to go with an online plan, but for older people without the internet it really can be tough to decide which is best.0
