Hello, I wondered if anyone knew if there is a scheme to help old people buy new boilers? Our elderly neighbour lives in fear every winter of her very old boiler 'blowing up', she has decided she really needs a new ones this year but its going to cost £2k. She owns her house (it was left to her) but has very little savings and a small pension.!
Thanks!
Thanks!

There used to be grants and scrappage schemes that contributed a couple of hundred ponds to the cost. I don't know the current state of play.
This site provides links to various sources of assistance for various things so it may be a good place to start.

The Thames Water Trust gives money for items like this, but you have to go through something like CAB. I don't know whether all water authorities have their own trusts or whether Thames Water only works in London.0

If she has only a small pension you should encourage her to claim Pension Credit.0
