prepayment to credit meter - tariff

just switch from a prepayment meter to a credit meter with EDF, the engineer has just told my girlfriend that as we have econemy 7 currently due to the night storage heaters we can't change tariffs and even though we have a credit meter, we have to stay with the same tariff we have with the prepayment meter.
my question is , is he talking out his behind or his is right, as the whole reason behind us switching to a credit meter is to find the cheapest tariff possible, any help or advice would be greatly welcome

As long as you have had a dual rate credit meter installed, then you can have an E7 credit tariff.
There would be little point in switching the meter otherwise.
Remember that the metering company or DNO is not necessarily EDF.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
