British Gas unfinished installation work
I was wondering whether someone could advise me on an issue I have with British Gas.
At Christmas in 2006 (Boxing Day) we had a new boiler system put in by British Gas and they left two things unfinished - an air vent (which should have been bricked up) and a fuse box (which should have been removed).
As it was at Christmas (and they left the bricks in our back garden) we figured they would return later to finish the job. They didn't and unfortunately we have left it until now. I have called British Gas and they have no record of this installation (thankfully we do) and are refusing to finish the work. They tell me it must have been a contractor that did the work and therefore they are not responsible.
We had this installed on credit and are still paying for it! Should we try to find the contractors who did the work and speak to them (I can't seem to find them on Google), or should we complain to British Gas?

BG are your contractor, not the sub contractor. But frankly after 5 years I think I'd take the same approach that they are taking. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

British Gas will have a record of the installation, if they were paid by you to do it. Call again. I kind of agree with macman, but you may find that if they can trace the original job, they may be willing to help in some way. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Cowboy central heating fitters? That's a surprise. Leaving it 5 years doesn't help you though.0

If you couldn't be bothered to get it completed for 5 years, why the urgency now?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

"Christmas in 2006 " and you expect them to come and complete it now? :rotfl: If you had phoned them Jan/Feb'07 then yes I would expect them to do it but after nearly 5 years I think you have 2 Hopes and 1 is Bob.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
