Letters of Administration

Hubby is going in to sign/swear the Oath tomorrow so that he can get the Grant of Letters of Administration. Then we can start to deal with Mother in Law's house and then sell it (she died in November).

Can anyone tell me when we actually get the Letters of Admin or Grant of Probate?
Do we get it the same day as the signing?
Are we any nearer to getting sorted yet?

Not been down this route before so we just don't know.
Thanks in advance for any help.
(don't even know if I have posted in the right place!)

    The answer, is no.

It will now take 7 - 10 working days for the next stage. Then the Letters will be given.

Thank you me ( :rotfl: )

have you employed a solicitor to do probate ? - if not, you can do it yourself, i did when my mum died. its just making a list of her assets and debts - that's it - if it is a simple will, it is quite straight forward - good look.

Thank you. Mum had no Will though.

We did consider doing it but we thought that we might miss something.
We did do all the running around beforehand and informed all the 'people' who needed to know so that it would cut down a lot of the costs first.

The chap we have employed is very approachable and we have asked may questions to check things out. Most times I get put right through to him on the phone too rather than have to leave messages etc. with a secretary.

Apparently a 'simple' case can take 6 months to complete. But because we have done more if the stuff ourselves, its only been 2 months since Mum died and we are moving along quite nicely. Don't think it will take the 6 months to finish.

Hope this isn't too cheeky, ignore if it is, but what's the solicitors hourly rate for this? I'm going to need a solicitor for this and am wondering what the rate should be.
