Which banks allow early access to salary?

I'm with Natwest and they allow you to draw your salary on a Saturday where it is actually due to be paid the first working day after the weekend. i.e. On a Monday or a Tuesday where the Monday is a Bank holiday.

This is common knowledge with Natwest through work, and some other people say their banks allow this also.

So, does your bank allow this, and which bank is it?

I don't think First Direct do this, but it works out just the same as my pay date changes to guarantee that salary will be in the account on the same date every month. So if it's due on a Monday which happens to be a bank holiday, its cleared by the previous Friday. Same goes for if the pay date happens to be a Saturday or Sunday.

It's nice to be paid 2 days early, but of course the next months salary may be 2 days later!
  • When I banked with Natwest I used to work for them too and they certainly didn't do any form of early clearing for staff (though the transaction type code against salary going in was different to when I used to bank with them before working for them)

Haven't been on a payroll system for a fair old time but Barclays didn't do this. I would however image it was also depend on who your employer is as smaller companies certainly just do BACS transfers etc

    The money isn't technically there.

After Friday Natwest treats the next day as Monday as it's the next working day, it "discards" any non working day.

I don't know of any other banks that do this. Not quite sure why you want it though, if you need money before payday then either use a budget planner or get an overdraft (prefably not spiraling into debt).

Yorkshire Bank used to show Monday (or Tues/Wed if Mon/Tues were Bank Holidays) credits at 10:30pm Friday night.

Not sure if it's the same now as my salary is paid elsewhere.

when I banked with Barclays, any credits on a Monday, used to show in my account on a Sunday.
