Breathable membrane to keep loft space clean

Is it necessary to tape the overlaps or staple onto battens to stop the dirt blowing in?0

these breathable felts are designed to go above the rafters - not underneath
if you have traditional ventilated soffits then fitting this stuff would stop the flow of air keeping condensation from building up on the rafters (but not half as bad as fitting plasterboard or polythene to the underside)0 -
Short of having the roof retiled I can't fit the membrane as intended.0

back to post #5 then. Dust sheets and plastic boxes with lids are cheaper anyway
Or get a big shed in the garden (i went this route!).
Basically you dont wan't any unheated spaces that are also unventilated else you will likely get condensation issues at least in the extremes of winter.
And the dirt might hold damp against the rafters.0
