Iceland with young children?

Hello,
I'm currently looking into a 3 night break to Iceland but need some advice for whether its somewhere to go with or without children. They are 18months, 3 and 5 so only young. Has anyone been with young children with any suggestions?
I'm not sure whether to go with mum as a girlie break or take the kids as well. I'd rather go without them then take them and everyone hate it if its really not suitable to take them.

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

NO - leave them at home !

You visit Iceland for the scenery, it is not a Disney World type location. If you wish to see what Iceland has to offer you will have to do a fair bit of driving , you do not want three kids in the back getting bored after the first 15 minutes - it will ruin the trip for everyone.

If you stay in Reykjavik to keep the kids amused you might as well stay at home.

    If you go, use this:-

    PS: It's great !!

According to what I've heard, "Mums go to Iceland" :D
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

Iceland is an interesting trip for older children with the dramatic landscape, whale watching, Blue Lagoon etc., but not really for young children. I would wait a few years if you want to take the whole family.
  • Thank you very much for your replies, they were exactly the type of answers I was after.

Now lets hope my mum doesn't drive me mad on our trip!!
