Questions one should ask the seller before purchasing a house

You're right. I do my research and I always get the best deal when buying.
I can tell you now that does not involve asking a complete stranger a question about debt. I am also what you could call a motivated seller when I am selling and would not even entertain a question like that.
Please don't ask it. Your chances are higher of offending people more than they are getting any decent information about whether you should buy the house.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The easiest way to get answers out of someone is take someone with you who can speak to anyone. They will then get the person to give you the history of the house plus their life story
Also if you know something about the area which is not 100% positive then ask them a question about it. Depending on their answer you will know how truthful they are likely to be about everything else.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

ok the debt question will be left out of the question list. Any more thoughts about any other questions that you will ask.
Who was previously living in the property
Why are you selling this property
When do you want to sell this property
Have you fixed yourself a time frame to sell this property
Has there been major maintenance done to the property in the last 10 years.
If so what
Would it be alright if my builder analyzed the property
what is the council tax for this property
Did you get building regulations for that? Can I see the certificate?
Would you want me to purchase the property in a set timeframe
What would be the desirable qualities in the purchaser that you will look for
Are neighbours owner occupied or are they privately rented/housing association.
whether there will be a chain and whether they have found somewhere suitable

whether there will be a chain and whether they have found somewhere suitable Again a fair question

To be honest I still think your list contains questions that would make me wonder about you but I would be seriously interested to hear about the reactions you got if you were to ask these questions for real.2014 Target;

Please don't hurt me.....
:rotfl:
Honestly, I would never be so rude as to ask half of these but I, like others, can't wait to hear what happens if you do.Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0 -
You can't really go along and read a robot list of questions. You need to get chatty with the seller and get a feeling for the situation, maybe slipping some questions in depending on how it goes.Happy chappy0

Id say the most important questions other than whats on the sheet from the estate agent and peticulars like parking would be
" How are the neighbours, have you had any trouble with the neighbours"
" Have you had any problems with crime / anti social behaviour"
they could lie but they could lie about any other questions so far but hopefully they would be a little honest eg, next door had the lawn mower stolen after leaving it on the front lawn over night .. and bob in number 30 occasionaly invites his biker friends round on friday nights.
I must say most of the questions above wouldnt be something id like answering and id kindly show you the way to the door.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
