What Are My Rights ?

Me and my sister both ordered a 16-25 railcard to travel on the train.
We then booked tickets knowing they were ordered we are travelling tomorrow, the tickets arrived the next day but the railcards have not arrived

What do I do in this situation ?

    Hmm not sure on this one but I know when my tickets have been inspected on the train I've had to produce the ticket and the railcard together

    You'll have to either get full price advance tickets before the day or wait till your day of travel to see if it arrives in the post first thing and get on the day tickets if the railcards dont arrive.

    You have to show a railcard with the tickets or risk a fine. The rail cards can take a week or two to arrive.

    Do you have any confirmation of your railcards?

    Call them and ask what to do in this situation, you could also call your local train station and ask them :)

  • Ring the company who were supposed to send you the railway card and speak to someone to confirm that they can see you have ordered them.

    Ask them to send you an email confirming that you had bought them, yet they had not turned up with the tickets.

    You need to be able to show the email to the inspector if it's needed. :money:

    That should generally suffice, but if not you have a drama, whereas you may not be able to travel! In this case, I'd be looking for some sort of compensation from the company!:rotfl:

    eee... some more bad advice.

    I doubt you have any rights OP, if you don't have the railcards in hand your tickets are not valid - therefore you need to buy new ones. You could call the company that provided them to see if you can alter them to full price ones (may be an admin charge for it).

    I am not sure what this person has been drinking but I don't think the OP is entitled to any compensation for their error.

    In future get your cards from the train station, no risk of waiting on the post then.

    Direct from the website (16-25 railcard) Can take up to 3 days.

    How many days ago did you order them ?
  • What are the timescales involved? Are they late?

    I am sure they will have T&Cs saying they are not in control of the post so cannot be held accountable for delays in arrival.

    If the railcards don't arrive in time, go to the ticket office at the departing station and ask nicely if you can upgrade to regular tickets (paying the difference), explaining the situation.
    This will save you the risk of having to buy the full price ticket on the train.
