Tv / Dvd Combi - Dvd Player Dead

Tv / Dvd Combi, the dvd player constantly comes up as "No Disk".

The Region is set to Region 2, which is the same as the DVD disks used.

I was wondering where i would be able to purchase a replacement drive for the tv? I ask to see if it is ecomonical to do so.

Anyone.?

  • Combi anything is generally a bad idea, they're hard to repair economically. Your cheapest option by far will be a separate dvd player, but I'd try a lens cleaner on the drive first.

I tried to repair a combined DVD and HDD recorder recently.

The problem is that nobody stocks spares for things like that any more.

I ended up buying a new mechanism that was the same make but a current model. It didn't work.

Though it only cost about £15, the waste of time was more annoying than the waste of money...

    fwor,

i have the same tv, just a different brand. Same design, layout even down to the buttons. I could slave the one into the other, though if i cant get replacement drive. Then i see no point in breaking the items apart.

What was the website that you used to locate a part.?

It wasn't quite the same for me, as when I got it apart I found that it had a complete PC CD/DVD drive hidden inside it.

Grandata often stock CD and DVD mechs, but some of the prices are just silly. Who could justify paying £195 for a new transport when a whole new DVD player is a fraction of that...

Sounds good, might be a case of popping the back off and having a peek. Might have broken loose from the board, or infact might just need replacing completely.

Its a mech which has no draw, just feeds itself in and out fine. Comes up with "no disk", not the expected "bad disk" or "incorrect region".

Appears like its not even reading it. Though it knows to spin it up once its been drawn in, and knows the eject it.

    A strange one..
