That is going to need a specialist courier and I'm sure someone will be along later to give some suggestions.
The import duty and tax on receipt is going to be huge, I hope your buyer realises that . Also , and I'm sure I'm being silly, are you allowed to send gold into the US?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There is absolutely no parcel carrier that I know of who will insure previous metals above £250, although for flights I'd recommend http://www.travelsupermarket.com/0

There are plenty of places that will insure over £250,the limit with most is a £1000.I think the other guy meant it in tongue n cheek about flying there, who in their right mind would fly to the usa to deliver it!What goes around - comes around

I'm not trying to be funny here, but given the problems I'd be looking for a cheap flight and having a weekend over there as I took it personally.
I play a lot of poker, and some years back I remember two guys returning from a big tournament in europe to another in the US, one had won a gold item worth a fair amount and because he was a yank he had to pay to bring it into the country and it was taxed as income too. I remember because he realised later and joked about just having to let the French guy he was traveling back with carry it into America and as a foreign national there would have been nothing to pay.
Scary prospect ..gold bullion in transit
