Internet Explorer Help Please!

Hi Guys, can someone help me please? I use Internet Explorer not sure what version but its defo the latest one. Its only a small gripe but its starting to get on my nerves a bit now! I am entering the comps over on the comping board and when I click a link to the competition it opens a new page but the new page is full screen. Its only been doing it since last night. Usually I have MSE as full screen then the other page opens up and its smaller so I can see both if you know what I mean Ive done minimizing and maximizing and dragging it smaller but its starting to get on my nerves now as I open up a lot of windows! Is there an easy way to sort this?

Thanks

Alison

IE9 is the latest (technically IE10 is, but that's not readily available to home users yet). You can confirm by pressing the "alt" key next to your spacebar, you'll see a small list of menus appear near the top (File, Edit, etc). Click on Help, then choose "about" and confirm your IE version.

Either way, the simplest way to resolve this is to ensure you use tabbed browsing. It's far more efficient and makes better use of the computers memory, then all pages will be the same size and you can flick between then easily enough. Click on "Tools" and then "options". Under "Tabs" click on "settings" and then choose:

Always open Pop-Ups in a new Tab.

Also, check open links from other programs is also set to open a new tab.

Thanks very much for the advice. I do use the tabs sometimes. I hope I dont sound ungrateful and like im ignoring your advice, but is there anyway I can have the new pages open up in a smaller window without having to drag them all about and mess with minimizing and maximizing? Its just when comping sometimes I need to see MSE full screen and follow instructions if you know what I mean.

    Thanks

    Not at all :)

    Ok, should be fairly simple.

open your second window and get it to the size you want it to be. Once down, you must choose "file > Exit". don't just click the red cross in the top corner. Again, if you don't see "File". Press the "alt" key next to your keyboard.

The next time you open IE. it should be at the same size you had it.

    Try it out :)

Sorry to be a pain, its not working!! Ive clicked File and Exit and its still making them big. Ive tried it about 4 or 5 times. Before I asked for help I tried leaving the window id finished with open and clicking another one and that didnt work either! I dont know why its started happening I havent been messing with the settings or anything its a bit strange!

And you're completely closing all open IE windows before doing this? So, no IE open, open one, resize, then File, Exit. Then re-open IE and it's going full screen?

Just out of interest, you don't mean full screen to the point where you can't see the start button or taskbar (ie, by pressing F11)?
  • IE is still a buggy piece of garbage. Use Chrome, or Firefox.

Ive just completely closed IE down. Ive done the resize, done the file and exit and its not having it! No im not completely full screen F11 thing I can still see the task bar and buttons. I think I might have to try firefox or chrome instead. Thanks for the help.
