Barclaycard won't let me balance transfer - options?

Hi
I'm paying loads in interest on my Barlcaycard so my husband was going to get a 0% balance transfer credit card to help me (he has better credit than me as we have always had separate finances, mine isn't that good!). Wave of relief until Barclaycard said my credit card was not eligible for balance transfer so I have to continue to pay the high payments (I'm just covering the interest every month so making no dent in repaying it) - if my husband gets a loan would I be allowed to pay off my Barclaycard with this. I appreciate any advice , as always.

I'm not totally sure barclaycard can stop you doing a BT to pay it off (are you sure they didn't mean you couldn't do a BT to pay off another card and move more debt on to your barclaycard account). You wouldn't even normally ask a card provider if you can do a transfer to pay off your card.
All husband needs to do is open a new 0% account (not with barclaycard) and then log in to the online account and put in your card number and the amount he wants to transfer.
If for some reason thats not possible (and I can't imagine that it isn't) then husband could apply for a 'super balance transfer' card, such as Virgin, do a transfer from his new card to his bank account - and then pay your debt off at that point.
Yes if he got a loan then he could certainly use the money in his current account to pay off your debt.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi
Thank you, I did explain what I wanted to do several times and was put through (I think to a foreign call centre) and was told no I couldn't do it because of my credit status and transactions on my account.
I'll not give up hope!
Thank You - I just want it sorted out and to be able to sleep at night!0 -
I had same problem with Vanquis! Anyway Halifax Clarity Card sent me a letter to offer me a 'Super balance transfer' at a reduced rate.0

Virgin Card now applied for - lets hope the balance can be transferred.
Thanks for the help:j0 -
I suspect they misunderstood your question. There is no way they won't let you paying off the card, whether by balance transfer, generous donation from a mysterious benefactor or lottery win. They are not going to refuse to be paid. The credit card company give them the money and it will come off your balance. They probably thought that you wanted to transfer a balance to this exisiting card instead or apply for a new one through them.0

If he gets the virgin card first try doing a normal transfer to pay off your card (all he will need is your card number), i think that will work.
If not go for the transfer to current account option (this option has a higher fee so definitely try a normal BT first).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Virgin card approved online - I have a lifeline! Can transfer whole balance and start to pay it off, hope they don't change their mind!0
