First utility
hi peeps
I am with Atlantic at the moment and considering changing, getting fed up of the big six to be honest.
I been looking around and had a look at first utility, according to their system I will save money by going to them, but that is not why I want to change.
The Isave tarrif looks ok.
Is anyone with First utility on here and what are they like?
I am using first telecom which is the same company, for my phone and they are fine for that, but then I have not really had to contact them and they leave me alone, which is more than som other companies do.

I suggest you use a comp site with your annual kWH figures to find the best tariff.
As for First Utiity, a search on tis forum will tell you all you need to know.
Are you seriously saying that you would switch because FU says you will save money-rather than by using a comp site?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for the reply, I have already use a comp site with my annual KWh figure, well I used one which is Uswitch, I may try a couple more later.
Uswitch said that a company called OVO is the cheapest, then in order
ScottishPower Online Energy Saver 16
ScottishPower Online Fixed Price Energy January 2013
npower Sign Online 24
EDF Energy
Never heard of OVO to be honest and the others are part of the cartel I am trying to get away from
The reason I want to change have little to do with saving money as such, because you save very little in the long run and they seem to follow each other anyway. I just want to get away from the bix six.
I done a search on here for First Utility, and came up with nothing, which is why I registered to see if anyone knew if they was any good.
I know they do two tariffs, Isave which is just a normal meter and the one with the smart meter, which I don't want.
thanks for the reply anyway0 -
Why would you choose FU over Ovo, when Ovo are cheaper?
And setting aside FU's dire reputation. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

i never heard of Ovo, but I have heard of first utility, mainly due to the fact use their phone service, which to be honest is fine, but then I have not had any need to contact them.
I did not know that FU had a bad reputation, not seen any reviews
FU don't have a minimum contract, so if they are no good I can get rid of them, Ovo have 12 months minimum.
Still not decided what I am doing, maybe changing is a waste of time and I may as well stay as I am.0 -
I'm looking at the moment - note that FU pay the dual fuel discount after 12 months - if you leave before that you don't get it.0

Which is fine, but at least you don't have to pay them if you leave before the 12 months or you are not stuck in a 12 month contract.
I don't long contracts and try to avoid them,0
