What food do you serve on Christmas day ?

After horses breakfasted and turned out we start with a brunch at about 11am of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and toasted muffins with champagne.
After dog walking and horses mucked out, brought in and settled we have worked up an appetite and have a huge full trimmings roastie with turkey and beef about 3pm. Desert and wine, champagne again, such a chore LOL.
Rest of day pickings on junk choccies, nuts, mince pies etc
Then evening cold meats and cheeseboard, pickles, french bread etc for those that have any room left.
You.

It's good to get the dogs out on Christmas Day morning, it's so quiet out there - love it!
Lunch is usually ready to sit and eat 2-3pm while TOTP is on then we watch The Queen's Speech and fall asleep for an hour.
I think the fairies do the washing up.
I don't usually do 2 joints, I do the turkey and a huge casserole dish of special stuffing which is my secret but contains a 1lb of sausagemeat and various dried nuts and cranberries, can't tell you what else or I'd have to kill you :rotfl:
I'm usually in a haze by then. I don't drink all year except Christmas Day. That day I keep a bottle of Baileys under the sink and have glugs when nobody's looking
All the cold selections for supper if we need a tummy top-up but Boxing day we always have turkey, home made chips and beetroot.

I'm loving the sound of your casserole and would like the recipe but don't love it enough to die for

Hope Barney gets a christmas stocking, ours do

I do the gravy with the giblets and neck, then lift them out of the pan and pass them to the dogs when they're cold.
They get a small turkey dinner too (our leftovers)

Last year was the first time me and the hubby were home alone on Christmas day, as we've always been up to my parents in years before (complicated with step daughter we have from boxing afternoon, so we have 2 Christmases!!).
I decided to set my own traditions as it was our first alone, so hubby had lamb which is his favourite. I had a M+S nut roast as I'm veggie, then we had all the trimmings. I made a chocolate roulade for desert with loads of cream. In the evening we usually have cold cuts/cheese/nibbles.
Then we have another Christmas dinner as Santa returns on boxing day night when step daughter is here, so the day after is Christmas all over again!
Feeling festive now!0 -
Normally wake up with a stinking hangover from the night before.
Force down some prawns, chicken bites and champagne. Then the men wander off to the pub at 12:00 whilst the women sort the turkey out. After the food just sit round the telly drinking and eating rubbish then collapse into a coma at about 03:00.
Then boxing day its off to the pub all day for the football!

We usually have bacon cobs for breakfast then off to my Mum's for Christmas lunch (starters - prawn cocktail/pate/smoked salmon, main - turkey and beef, all trimmings and dessert - chrismas pud/crumble/trifle) then if we're still hungry in the evening once home we have cold turkey and gammon sandwiches with nibbles.
I've never done a Christmas dinner at home - we've always gone to my mums. She usually has 15-20 guests. Boxing day I do a roast or a buffet - depends what we feel like. This year i'm hoping DH will take over Boxing Day responsibility as we've got baby due early January!0 -
Normal breakfast which at the moment is either a protein shake or some peanut butter.
Prefer going to a pub for lunch so whatever their veggie choice is. Last year at home I had garlic bread and baked camembert.
Nothing really for dinner, just a snack if hungry but lunch is much bigger than I'd usually eat.0 -
We're a bit different as I think we used to fall into the majority that whinge about Turkey but do nothing about it. Big xmas eve party at my Mum's that we joint do. We have a ig joint of ham and a turkey then (and one that feeds about 40) so we have steak on the bbq on xmas day. We start with soup, then sorbet, then steak and all the trimmings still, it's the law isnt it? then dessert is xmas pud or roulade or something, then coffee and mints and mince pies, cheese and biscuits and port. The we roll into the living room. There are usually 7 of us. Us, my parents and some really close family friends. Lunch takes around 3 hours, and between courses we take it in turns to make a speech generally about the year, people etc. So it's really lovely. We start the day with croisants and bucks fizz, then when the people arrive it's canapes and champers. But I reckon I'll be on a starvation diet after xmas as only got 4 monts till the wedding then!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

Well normally it's gammon sandwiches for breakfast, huge roast dinner at approx 1.30pm, then buffet in the evening BUT....
This year it is going to be different because I am fed up of spending all day cooking, i'm not sure what I am going to change yet so I will keep an eye on here for other peoples ideas!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0
