I have started doing Avon and i also have another job where i work pt 14 hours. I do around 2 hours a week on Avon and need to tell tax credits about it. The questions i have are:
WIth Avon i get a invoice saying i have earnt £69 BUT i then have books to buy, petrol to use, i have my internet to put my order through, extra electric, mobile phone etc so really i'm probabily breaking evan at the min or making a small £10 etc. How do i work out expenses and what do i do (i dont have receipts etc as i dont fill my car up just for avon - i do it for the week etc).
What other info do i need? I'm going to ring up monday as this is when i start my pt job and can register my avon then too.
Will i need to pay anything like NI etc? I'd pay this on my normal pt 'job' but i dont earn enough (5k) to earn tax.
Really confused! ANY help welcome thank u

I found the business link website invaluable. They also have information about free courses run by HMRC, one being specifically for people new to self-employment, highly recommended.
This accountancy website also has a lot of info and links, including the one for business links:
