next directory card late payment

Hello, I'm after a bit of advice please, I have a next directory card and pay online every month, the thing is this month I have stupidly paid it a day late, I have rang next and the man on the phone was very confusing as he kept telling me my payment was not late because it was showing on my account, I dont understand how this can be? I have also set up a direct debit so i never miss a payment again, also I have never ever missed a payment on anything ever, will this mistake affect my credit rating?

As it was only a day late then its quite likely that it won't be marked as a late payment on your credit file - especially given what he said on the phone to you.

If they do decide to mark it as a late payment, but everything else is always paid on time, then it won't have much impact on your credit file. And after maybe a year it would have practically no impact at all.

There is a gap of around 5 days between the payment date and the statement date on Next payments. Done this a couple of times in the past for my wife's card and you should find your payment is still listed on the statement if only a day late so there should be no problem

My payment date for my next account is the 10th of the month with my statement date being the 17th. I've paid my account on the 12th before and never ever had a late payment fee. There was once that I forgot and paid it on the 18th and that time I did get a late fee. When I queried it, it appears their system only classes a payment as late if it isn't there before the statement is produced.
