I put IOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS, and now the battery drains overnight.

There are comments about this dotted around, and some advice on how to reduce the drain. I've followed them but to no avail.

I expect there will be a fix soon, but in the meanwhile I wish I hadn't done the update.

Check what you have running and applications that you have installed.

If you haven't already, I would suggest installing it as a new phone and then adding the applications a few at at time to see if it is one of those that is checking your location or doing something every few minutes that it shouldn't be.

I have iOS 5 on an iPhone 4 and another instance on a 3GS both run very well.

Wow, wish I hadn't seen this! Just ordered the 4s, gulp! As boxst says though, more than likely you have lots of apps running or very intensive apps! Hope you manage to solve the problem!

4S will be absolutely fine as are iPhone 4s. I'm impressed that Apple bothered to update the 3GS and it works quite well adding a new lease of life to the phone.

Is there a thread someone can bump with hints and tips to preserve battery life after iOS5? (iPhone 4).

    Many thanks!
