PPI on old account

Hi There,

I would like to try and claim back ppi payments on an account i had for several years. As far as i remember i paid ppi from about 1988 until 2003/04. I do not have any statements however i do have an old credit card with my details on it. The account was with Bank of Scotland. Can anyone tell me how to go about starting this claim as it is obviously older than 6 years.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can start a complaint if you have your account number/CC number. Its easy to do yourself, so i would avoid a claims company.

You can do the complaint over the phone or via letter form, its up to you and with it being 6 years old, its more a case of stating when you became aware of the mis-sale rather than a 6 year time limit. We here can help you with this further down the line.

to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi, Most ppi's were front loaded (loans) which is a big NO NO so go for it! :D

Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

If it is a complaint for a Credit Card look here also (although almost the same info as above):

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step2
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step3

the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:

    • Loan account number/numbers OR CC account number/ numbers
    • start date
    • finish date
    • and your reasons

also have a read here for even more information:

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...PPI-forms.html

then complete the form and send it off. If you ring your bank or CC company they may have a ppi complaint line and can start your complaint for you over the phone but id get as much info ready before phoning them. If you start a complaint over the phone, they will ask the reasons why you felt mis-sold so have all the information ready and be prepared. :D

simples, hope that may help, good luck ;)

Wow thats brilliant, thanks so much Marksman :) I remember complaining about the ppi in 2001 - i had a car accident and couldn't work so tried to make a claim. As i was at uni they said i couldn't claim because i wasn't employed full time but i wasn't employed full time when i got the card!! I would sooooo love to get this money back now :)

Just a few additional questions if i may? i can't remember the start date of the card /ppi or the amounts etc - should i contact them for this information first or make a best guess?

Should i mention the earlier attempt at getting ppi payments repaid to me?

right off to do some reading :)
