Crazy Car insurance quotes

The wife's car insurance is up for renewal and I am a named driver.
I got nabbed by a (pointless) speed trap last summer - some things to say about that, mostly unprintable, but nevertheless worthless trying to fight the !!!!!!!s, even with evidence - so .....
I enter the details into the forms, including my nice new SP30 (why does the LAW penalise me for 3 years, but insurance companies acting extra-judicailly for FIVE).
So, the amount is more than last year. I drive the car very little - it's more the convenience really. I have my own car. So I take me off and leave her as the only driver.
And the premium GOES UP without me on the quote (by about 15%).
EHHHH?????

You're less of a risk if you are married it seems. I guess they think you won't be driving round showing off if you have a missus!
