Yikes, just finished calculating my total debt <gulp>
It hurt, but it was so worth it... now I can watch it shrink! (I hope)
I have a pile of stuff to ebay and and I've been shopping smart, and using the OH's washing machine heh, so I've made a good start, but there's always room for improvement I'm sure. I also found a "snowball" spreadsheet I will start using in the morning.
I'm scared to death, but trying to keep it in perspective.. in the grand scheme of things its only money, right? Official DFW Nerd #620 :cool:Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
Hi, I'm not sure how to get a Nerd Number but since Ive been trying hard to get out of debt and some sort of financial order to my life I think I qualify, so please may I have a number.
Ive been reading the debt free sites for months now and in January decided to start buying only 'essential things'. I bought the Judith Levine book about 'Not buying it, my year without shopping' and that helped focus my mind, I realise that only I can do it and its proved to be both hard and easy to reduce my outgoings. Easy because if I dont go into the shops I cant spend...yes I know there is always online but I usually make a mess of that so try not to do it too often...when I ordered the book Ive just spoken about I ended up with two which wasn't a very good start was it? The hard part came when large essentials have to be paid for...such as the boiler servicing which needs doing again before the winter...talking of which then there is Christmas!!!!! I tend to use just one credit card and set myself a limit each month then when I reach that limit just stop buying, its the only way I can do it, unfortunately that means I start the new card month with things that are crying out to be dealt with!
Anyway I'm dealing with it all and I knew this year was going to be hard but am slowly getting there.. to the DF position I mean.
I must say I'm so impressed by the way that some nerds have dealt with and are still dealing with their huge debts...well done every one you are all an inspiration to us all. It must be such a tremendous achievement to see your debts disappearing.
I now want to work out my debts again and I suppose just carry in with what I'm doing and how I'm doing it as its definitely working for me...that does not exclude me from becoming an official member I hope!!0 -
