switching from a pre payment meter
Hoping someone can help me.
I currently pay for my Electricity by toping up a Key and sticking it in my meter. My supplier is EDF and I Pay on average about £40 per month. I've been told this is THE most expensive way of paying for my electricity so have decided that it is perhaps time to change.
I want to go over to DD and to reduce my costs (winter is a killer on my tight budget!) but whenever i use a comparison site it seems to think i my preferred payment method is to still use the meter and gives me no other options!
Anyone got any advice on how to move from Pre payment meter to DD? And to get the comparison Sites to give me more options?
I feel way out of my depth researching all this, I have no idea what I’m doing (pardon my ignorance)

i just done the same thing, rang edf and they have come out today and switch my meter to a credit meter, and the installer has told my girlfriend, that our monthly dd will be based on average usage. so your best bet would be ring edf customer services you may be on hold for a while ( i was on hold for nearly an hour, but sorted it out in under 5 mins)Life and Investment Support Exec,

Pick your preferred supplier, call then and ask what them would charge for a meter change. Bear in mind that the may require a security deposit for a credit meter.
Put in any standard credit tariff on the comp sites, it doesn't matter what you use-what you are interested in is the comparative data.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
