Thank you for your take on the situation but if you look at my OP and my post @ 21:38 as you will see, the tracking number was not working online or at the depot.
The parcel was clearly linked back to my order somehow (so the label can't have been that illegible) for them to know it had been loaded back to the warehouse so I have to wonder why they didn't just do the simple thing and call me to either ask me to pick it up with ID or confirm my address?0 -
Just ignore pcombo, they repeatedly post useless and incorrect information on these forums, and seem unable to read messages correctly.0

I'm not reading incorrect i seen that the tracking number wasn't working, but calling the depot and asking for a package in there name or address or something is common sense todo. Sitting back and waiting for them to call isn't gonna happen.
You really must be sad to just post here to say ignore me.0 -
I will take your advice on board for 'next time' Pcombo0

depends on the courier
DHL
FEDEX
Citylink
are all given your telephone number by the sender so if any problems the courier or the driver can call your.
DPD even email you when they receive the package on their system and again the morning the item is out for delivery with a time slot for delivery0 -
Think most catalogue sites use home delivery.0

It was with Interlink I found out on Wednesday (see the customer services lady's email) BUT the link in the dispatch email was ambigious, it was something like https://www.dm.com/letters/lots of numbers/order number/what i presume to be the tracking number
When you click that link - the page didn't load at all, when you tried just knocking the url back to the root so https://www.dm.com (I don't think it was dm btw this is just an example), you got a really generic website that I took to be the database provider not the courier itself).0 -
interlink is a brand of geopostuk just like DPD
interlinks tracking page is
http://www.interlinkexpress.com/tracking/
DPDs tracking page is
http://www.dpd.co.uk/tracking/
but a tracking number by both couriers will work in either tracking page0 -

But if the delivery details were incomplete on the package the phone number might not have been available for them to call.
You HAVE to agree calling them is the better option of waiting for them to call you....0 -

well if the tracking info was incomplate my first call would be to the supplier and request the correct tracking details. they say the delivery slip was not complete so it was returned to sender, but the OP also said the tracking details did not work.
to me this would suggest that they never sent the item out in the first place, incomplete delivery label and no tracking details all seems strange.
so even calling the courier they would of needed the tracking number or the postcode to trace the item,0
