If you do not want to leave the area, then just go to the Hilton or Crowne Plaza and eat there.
If you want to walk through the NEC and catch a 10 min train to Birmingham, then the restaurants are all centred around Brindley Place. It's a nice walk through the mailbox, where there are also loads of places to eat. A stroll down the canal to Brindley Place and nightclub land. You will be spoiled for choice. The German market wll be in the city centre soon, which is just magical.
If you want fine dining, then take a cab to Simpson's at Edgbaston or head for Purnell's near to Colmore Row/Cathedral in central Birmingham. Bank or Edmunds near to the Sealife Centre at Brindley Place are also very good.

Other good places to eat are Chez Jules, The Chinese Quarter, (anywhere there really, cafe soya is my fav at the mo.
Or Italian San Carlos. Although all the places Lady Aga have mentioned I would have too is she hadn't got there first! But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
You could also try the restaurants in the Mailbox which is a red building about a 5 minute walk from the rear exit of New Street station (turn left as you come out and keep on walking)

Our favourite is Bar Estilo which has a Spanish flavour to it but there are plenty of others if you look at the directory on the web site.0 -
Might be a bit late now (the OP posted 15 days ago) but The Little Owl pub is a 3 minute taxi from the NEC and is alright for a drink and dinner.0
