Thought I had it sussed, but I'm missing something obvious and can't think what.
Created a Mozbackup of my old default user profile from the old (Vista) PC, saved on the new PC over my network. Restored the profile using Mozbackup on my new (W7) PC. All my emails and other settings seem to have transferred fine and I can send email, but cannot receive it. Status on the old PC after clicking 'Get mail' switches quickly from "Connecting to 127.0.0.1" to "Connect: Host for ... " and downloads any emails from my ISP's server, but new PC just displays "Connecting to 127.0.0.1" for a wee while then nothing else happens.
What am I missing?

There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

It sounds as though on your old machine the receive was routed through antivirus/firewall but on your new machine it is not routing this way.
You will need to go into the account settings in Thunderbird and set the server addresses to the correct ones for your mail serverThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Sorted. I'd completey forgotten that I use POPfile to filter spam. 127.0.0.1 points to POPfile which then redirects email traffic to and from the ISP's server. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
