City Link shambles...

Hi,

I sent something via City Link on Friday. They collected it, and apparentely attempted delivery twice. Both times the guy says he was definitely in and they have not left him a card. He cannot go to the depot to collect it.

I've been trying to get through the City Link customer services but the line is closed for tonight. On their web site the only options when I track the parcel are to collect from the depot or for it to be returned to sender.

The guy is now asking for it to be redelivered at a specific time (which I know they cannot do) OR for it to be delivered to a different address. Will City Link allow me to change the address of the package? Will I have to pay extra to do this or do you think they might take into consideration the fact that the driver didn't leave any card, etc, and redeliver elsewhere for free?

I'm absolutely livid to be honest... It seems everytime I send anything by courier this happens!!!

Buyer asking for a specific time makes me think he wasnt in when they attempted delivery.

Double check the address, Any issues with the address? Flat or odd numbering.

Personal sale or ebay? Alternative address may not be covered under seller protection.

Our post always arrives within 20 minutes of us leaving the house. Typical.
Mind you i got a delivery at 7am last week.

Citylink have always left cards, I did have them deliver twice on the same day though. I did wonder
why only half my order had arrived. Driver said he's doing my area and the vans loaded for a full day so
thats all. Hour or so later another driver turns up with the rest.

Said it didnt surprise him that i had already had a delivery.

I assume that CityLink can prove that they did actually attempt delivery twice?

Just playing devils advocate here, but can the guy prove he was in all day? Maybe they did leave cards but the buyer is not owning up to it?

The guy can't prove it, but why should he? Citylink has a long reputation for claiming that they attempted delivery, but did no such thing. http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.city-link.co.uk

As I said - just playing devils advocate. Buyers lie sometimes too as well as couriers!!

Sounds like the bloke was at work and missed it but seeing as he can't get to the depot he wants you to try and have it delivered when he is in.

Last time I had a missed delivery from Citylink they pushed a card through, but before I had chance to call them and arrange to go and collect there was a knock at the door... The driver wasn't busy so he thought he'd come back for attempt.
  • I am having problems with City Link at the moment. In fact I am waiting in for them for the second day on the trot.

I am expecting a parcel that was sent to me last week. According to City Link I have missed two deliveries and been left two cards. Utter rubbish. I was at home both days - had a full house on the second occasion - no cards left.

When I spoke to them they told me the usual nonsense about the driver taking a picture of my front door to prove that he had attempted delivery. "What colour is your front door?" You tell me I said. It was a black and white photo. Plonkers.

Rearranged delivery for yesterday. Nothing. Rang yesterday evening to rearrange again for today. Good news - your parcel will be sent "special" and will arrive before 12 noon. Nothing. Imbeciles.
You can't have everything.........where would you put it?

That's why I asked about whether CityLink could prove that they had, in fact, attempted delivery. I've had one recently where I was pretty sure that it was the buyer at fault ie wasn't in (and CityLink said they had photos as above) but I had another one where I'm certain that CityLink didn't attempt delivery (on a red route in London and probably a hassle for the driver) and they didn't "offer" any evidence of attempted delivery - unfortunately though the buyer became so pee'd off that they eventually just instructed CityLink to return to sender anyway. :(

  • Another interesting city link review site http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews93418.html, but then the reviews for most couriers are terrible, if you look down the list HERE

I think City Link usually allow the receiver to do that, if not I've had it once before where I've been told the sender needs to instruct them.
