    [STRIKE]Who was the company/retailer?[/STRIKE]

Sorry, re-read the post and found out it was Comet, When purchasing Kettles there's really only a few big name retailers, I was about to say if it was Curry's I'd go back and remind them it's company policy to sell at the advertised price. But It's Comet so my idea was mooted right off the bat.

    Anyway, vote with you're feet.

If you got to the till at the till said the price was £14.99 would you have insisted they charged you the £24.99 stated on the shelf also or accepted sometimes mistakes are made and paid the lower price?

I'm sure you would like some consumer rights to ask in your favour, but i'm guessing if you was on the other end of it you would cry about how it's not fair.

    You then say
"DONT beleive it was a mistake given the amount of items on sale of that brand"

if anything, this is more of a reason to support the fact a mistake was made. If a member of staff was pricing down a load of products of the same brand, they probably though this specific item was included (wrongly).

Also why you wouldn't believe the advice of consumer direct is beyond me, especially over something so basic. Hell, why you'd go to the effort of phoning TS is beyond me!

Avoid the store - they're entirely within their rights not to sell it to you, but any decent company would have written it off to experience.

its up to the customer to say "are you sure thats right as the shelf said £XX.XX and not £xx.xx", if the customer isnt paying attention when paying then its not the stores fault is it.

It may not be the stores fault that a customer isn't paying attention, but it certainly is their fault that an item was mispriced on the shelf.
