Parking in a taxi rank

My partner parked in a taxi rank on Holton Road in Barry(if you want to check it out). He was heading back to the car when he seen the officer writing out the ticket and waited to take it from her(not before scaring her with the panic alarm on the car).
However, the parking ticket offence is 'L47, Parking in a taxi bay' - I've looked this up and L47 is for parking in a bus stop while L45 is for parking in a taxi bay.
My second issue is that the taxi bay is not, in my opinion, clearly marked according to guidelines I read. The bay itself is a layby like the other parking bays on the road; the word 'Taxi' appears 4 times but doesn't cover the start or end of the taxi bay, it's more in between. Furthermore, I read that a taxi bay should be depicted by yellow dashed lines where there are none on Holton Road.
Anybody offer any advice on this?

Yep, post a picture of the front & back of the PCN, and a pic of the layby lines and signs, on pepipoo forum:

Sounds like you have grounds for appeal, so get over to pepipoo and get good advice about how to appeal this properly. Most people win who post on that forum.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Anybody offer any advice on this?
1 - don't park in taxi ranks in future
2 - pay the fine since the offence is effectively acknowledged above
I'll probably get flamed for this but taking responsibility for one's actions is a not unreasonable response0 -
Thanks for that, just posted0

I will the firstwhat about the parking ticket person taking responsibility for issuing the wrong ticket? maybe they could deduct the fine out of their wages

1) Agreed -don't do this again.
2) No way , there are strict regulations relating to these penalties and it is the duty of the Council to abide by them. (otherwise why have any regulations ? ).
Why is not OK for joe public to break the rule on parking but it is OK for the Authority to break the rules on markings and issuing of tickets ??
This is a money saving forum not a moral compass forum ..as such all Council tickets should be appealed as 60% + are overturned.0
