Hi savers,
I bought a TV via tesco direct on September 29th 2011. Just this afternoon, i remembered that i need to register the TV. Their rule stated that appliances MUST be registered 14 days of purchase.
What can i do?
Cheers

The requirement to register the TV is only for the warranty that will be offered by Tesco or the manufacturer.
Failing to register can't have any impact on your statutory rights as given by the Sale of goods act and if the TV fails within 6 months of purchase then Tesco are responsible for either repairing/replacing/refunding or proving that the fault was due to misuse.
After 6 months they could insist that you prove that the fault was due to a manufacturing fault, but in reality, providing that you have a receipt or other proof of purchase, most big retailers will repair or replace within the first year.
This is from the Tesco direct website.Nothing in our 28 day returns policy or this section affects your statutory rights. For example, you have a right to claim a repair or replacement of goods for up to 6 years from the date of purchase (5 years in Scotland) if your goods were not of satisfactory quality or fit for their purpose on the date of purchase. If you make a claim during the first 6 months, and we reject it, it's up to us to prove the goods were of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose at time of sale. After 6 months, it's up to you to show that the product had a fault or defect when it was sold.0 -

most of these registration forms are a way to send you more junk mail. as you buy a TV, kettle etc what has this got to do with what newspaper you read or how much income arrives in your household. as these are typical questions on these regsitration forms.0 -

and to try to sell you extended warranties when your initial warranty expires. (Dom & G are the usual insurance culprits)0 -
Thanks for the insight. Can i still register it then?0

Nothing to stop you trying. Doesn't mean it'll work or they'll accept it though. But as said above, this doesn't affect your statutory rights.
