Amazon seller refusing to refund return postage

I bought a guitar amp from an Amazon trader. The amp delivered was a different model to the one shown on Amazon. To cut a long story short the trader ( Guitar Mania in Poole ) agreed to accept the return but refused to refund the return courier cost (£21) which I think is unacceptable given that it was their mistake.

Can they do this? - it's alot of money for me to simply just 'write off' !

Also, before they accepted the return, one of their messages said “It will help speed up matters considerably and ensure the most promt of attention if you would leave some positive feedback in the meantime? We have an unblemished reputation here and I would like to keep that”

Is it worth contacting Amazon about this? (I haven’t left any feedback yet)

  • Yes it is, and they should refund it, refer them to the distance selling regulations, and just for the cheek of asking for positive after sending you the wrong one I'd leave them negative feedback

Yes I would contact Amazon, although they cannot insist the seller pays return postage they do sometimes do odd things like get the refund made before the item is returned- and then expect the seleler to arrange collection of item himself.

Amazon are very pro buyers, a lot more than ebay are and at th every least they should be aware that seller seems to require positive feedback on a less than positive trade.
