  • I was told the same when I first opened the account. But told wait 6 months when they can see wages etc being paid in and you dont default apply for a current account. But the person on the phone said no not at all, a step account has no bearing on getting a current account.

    only thing you can do is apply. if declined don't apply for anything else for at least 6 months then try again. its extremely frustrating having to wait for your credit report to clean up. the only credit account i had running on my file was mobile phone contract with orange which came with free home broadband (which shows as a seperate credit account) i had the orange account since i was 18 and kept it going. if i hadnt then id have struggled to get any new accounts
