Mobile broadband help

I was having problems with my laptop and used the recovery disc, this seems to have sorted the problem out but now I can no longer use either my 3 or orange mobile broadband, can anyone help? I am not at all technical.

What to do may well depend on what Operating System you have.

Do you get any error messages when you insert the dongle?

Check that auto-run is enabled for USB devices, as this is how they self-install their drivers. How you do that will depend on what OS you have.

I am using Vista, no error messages, the dongle lights up and the connection box comes up, but it says no network. I do not know how to enable auto run.
  • Hi,

for Auto-run, Control Panel > Auto-run, is the wee box ticked?

Whilst in Control Panel, have a look in Network and Sharing Centre > Manage Network Connections, right click on your mobile broadband, then properties, on general tab, is your mobile dongle ticked?

Thank you, but when I go to control panel there is no auto run, I have found auto run and it is on, however I am now getting a message saying, the connect attempt failed please make sure your settings are correct !
